August Rain!

To rain in Damascus at this time of the year is a very strange thing to happen, especially during the hot weather we are having now, it is really unexpected rain, and a very weird weather and day!

  • I miss Sham so much!
You are very lucky to be there right now. By the way I really like your blog, its a good way of keeping up with whats happening in the country I love so much. I stayed 4 months, I realised it was not enough when I left!
    All the best.

  • Thanx Ghalia
Nothing is as lovely as the first rain of the season.
The smell of earth goes hand in hand with the cleasing of the soul one experiences.
We had some rain in Tartous, but it still wouldn't count. Rain for us is a downpour with lightening and thunder and strong gusty westerly wind blowing from foreign lands across the sea.
This is what I'm waiting for so eagerly, the change of season and the coming of Autumn.

  • That much have felt great .. I hope it did cool the air as well! I see on TV almost every day the temperature in Damascus (CNN) .. THIRTYEIGHT DEGREES!!!!
We forgot to value how wonderful rain can feel over here ... lately there were downpours almost every day off and on ... and that's only the beginning of the season - of fall!
