Yummy Iceberg



Arabic ice cream (bouza bil haleeb) is a totally different experience from the rich American ice creams. It is quite light and gummy in texture. It actually stretches a bit as you spoon it. What makes it different is the flavor of Miskeh (Arabic gum) and sahlab (an extract from the tubers of orchids like a cornstarch).

The pictures are taken from Bekdash ice cream shop in Hamidyeh. Bekdash shop was first opened in 1895.

  • Although I occasionly have some of this ice cream, I'm not particularly fond of it, I prefer flavored Ice cream.

  • They say that Bikdash has the best Ice cream ever. I never had it unfortunatly. Would like to try it sometime.

    It's one of my favorite things to do in damas... although the cone is pretty huge, I always get drips on my t-shirt!! :(

    if u don't eat, lol, cos' this ice is mostly served when there are some guests, (dioouf). anyway i don't like it, it tastes very bad.
